Temperatures reached 100 degrees in Scranton this past Friday but that didn't keep the Penn State Worthington Scranton Cross Country team from hitting the streets for a very "cool" fundraiser. On Friday night from 6-9:30 pm the team held a fundraiser at Rita's Italian Ice in Dunmore selling and scooping ice cream as well as holding handmade signs and tip jars for donations. Many people came out to show their support for the team including: "the man in the tan van", a very generous mystery man, area residents, faculty, staff and even some of their pets! Even though the temperatures soared the team had fun bonding and the fundraiser was a success. The team raised almost $200 through tips, donations and ice cream sales that will be used toward expenses for their upcoming season. The team would like to extend their thanks to all those who came out to support them!
