Youth Basketball Camp a Slam Dunk at Penn State Scranton
DUNMORE, PA - Penn State Scranton boys basketball camp brought energy, excitement, and development to the hardwood, attracting dozens of young athletes from across Northeast Pennsylvania this weekend. Led by Head Coach Troy Jackson Jr., a former Division I and professional basketball player, the camp provided a unique opportunity for local youth to learn the game from a coach who not only teaches basketball but also invests deeply in his community.
The camp was divided into two sessions:
-
Friday: Ages 8–12 focused on fundamentals and building confidence through skill stations, games, and hands-on coaching.
-
Saturday: Ages 13–17 sharpened their competitive edge with advanced drills, team play, and leadership development.
Coach Jackson's passion for the game and commitment to the region were on full display throughout the event. His ability to connect with players, inspire hard work, and share his journey resonated with campers and their families.
The camp not only delivered high-level instruction but also served as a celebration of community and with positive feedback from parents and players alike, and clear impact on the athletes, this year's camp has set the standard for future youth programs at Penn State Scranton.
